On my favorite Disney princess

I know you’re not going to like this question, but please humor us. We have dinner bets on this: who’s your favorite Disney princess?

I say Mulan, and we’ve got votes for Pocahontas and Rapunzel.

The Coquette we know and love will probably answer in a way that makes us question our very beings, but please include a real answer (our future lives and relationships depend on it). Thanks!

Merida.

  1. Asker of Disney question says:

COQUETTE! You pulled through – I asked this question. Texting my girlfriends now……and trying to make a case for an almost win/free dinner with at least getting the M right – ha ha.

How this whole debate started: my friend’s niece asked us, and we got existential about it. Point of story: The niece said Merida.

This has come full circle. All is well.

  2. Dee says:

Merida is such a weird fairytale in that the fantasy isn’t a perfect romance or a tale of heroic glory, it’s….your mom comes to understand and accept you? The established regime comes around to more progressive ideas? It’s interesting for sure.

  3. Alice says:

I like Merida because it’s not your basic Disney princess story. It’s like you mom goes and wants you to be proper but you disagree been then the mom realizes she’s wrong and not the daughter.

I cried after I watched Brave because it so perfectly encapsulates my relationship with my mom when I was Merida’s age. It’s the first Disney princess movie that actually understands the people who watch Disney princess movies.
