Is modesty important? And is there a difference between modesty and humbleness?
Being modest is for winners. Being humble is for losers. They are both merely ego states that imply cultural status, so ultimately neither is that important.
Still, they have their use in matters of diplomacy.
My understanding is that humility is a matter of trying to understand one’s limitations while modesty is pretending to do so. If so, humility is for winners in the course of personal interactions while modesty can be a winning strategy in others.
